Nebraskans for Nebraska
What is it?
Nebraskans for Nebraska is a consortium of College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) stakeholder groups who support the College and the Extension Division in marketing career opportunities and academic programs at the local level.
Who coordinates the program?
The program is coordinated by the CASNR College Relations Director in conjunction with the Extension Recruitment Coordinator in the Office of Admissions. Members include stakeholders and friends of the College.
What do members do?
Members serve as local UNL contacts for local students. They provide the College/University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) with names, interest area(s), addresses, class or age, school, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of high school students either in their area or among their acquaintances that have expressed interest in CASNR/UNL. Members may also be asked to contact students who have expressed interest in CASNR in their local area. In this case, they will be contacted directly by the College Relations Director. Nebraskans for Nebraska participants can also represent the College at local, CASNR and UNL events or set up an event in their area.
What’s the College’s role?
CASNR ensures that every student referred to the Director of College Relations receives a packet of information about their interest area and are added to the UNL mailing database. CASNR will also work with Nebraskans for Nebraska members to coordinate local CASNR events and provide materials necessary to aid in the recruitment process. Members will be kept aware of the status of each of the students they refer to our institution.
How do I get involved?
Nebraska has been divided into 14 zones. Each zone has a zone leader who members can contact for more information on local and state-wide events. Individuals can also contact Laura Frey, College Relations Director, at 402-472-4445 or lfrey2@unl.edu.
