PROGRAM DEFINITION
Fast-paced…high-paying…challenging…rewarding: food science and technology is a science based profession working toward making our world’s food supply safe, convenient, nutritious, and tasty.

NEBRASKA POINTS OF DISTINCTION
Recognized as one of the top food science programs in the U.S.
One of only 45 programs in the U.S. accredited by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT)
Food science students benefit from the internationally-recognized, in-house Nebraska Food Processing Center and Food Allergen Research and Resource Program.
The infamous NU Dairy Store and food processing pilot plants are in-house and provide unique experiences for students.
Internship experiences are available nationally and internationally.
The Student Food Science Club/Food Product Development Team has received national recognition.

FACILITIES
The Food Science and Technology Program is housed in Filley Hall and in the Food Industry Complex on East Campus next to the beautiful Maxwell Arboretum. Some unique facility features include:
Processing Pilot plants
Sensory Laboratory
Analytical Testing Laboratory
State-of-the-art Bioinformatics Laboratory
Well-equipped Food Safety and Food Allergen Laboratories

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS (What’s expected of you as an undergraduate student)
• Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA to remain in good academic standing within the College
Participate in the Food Science Club
Gain internship experience
Meet with your academic adviser every semester
