PROGRAM DEFINITION
The major in water science is designed to educate students in basic and applied sciences related to Water resources. The management of water resources in Nebraska and throughout the world has great environmental, economic, and social significance. Sustainability of high quality water supplies and resolving conflicts among water users are the key elements to water management in the future. Water will be needed for domestic consumption, for agricultural production, for other industries, for wildlife habitat, and to maintain natural ecosystems. The water science major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln provides an opportunity to study water issues from several perspectives.

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS (What’s expected of you as an undergraduate student)
• Students are required to compete a senior project where he/she works on a real world problem with someone outside of the university.
