Why CASNR?

Sense of Community

When prospective students visit campus, one of the most apparent attributes of the college is the sense of community. We like to say we're a small, close-knit college with the advantages offered only in a large university setting.

Scholarships

CASNR can proudly say that it offers a strong scholarship base. Last year, over $400,000 was awarded to students! Scholarships are awarded on numerous criteria such as academics, student involvement and leadership.

Faculty Advising

CASNR has outstanding faculty advisors who help students and act as mentors during students' collegiate careers. Advisors help plan class schedules, act as references in employment situations and are valuable sources of information.

Employment Opportunities

Ninety-six percent of CASNR graduates get a job offer within six months of graduation. Career Services facilitates interviews with employers on campus. Each fall CASNR sponsors a career fair for its students, hosting more than 50 employers looking to fill full-time and internship positions.

Leadership Opportunities

There are over 30 organizations in CASNR that are specific to CASNR majors. These organizations allow students to network with professionals and take the initiative to be leaders on campus.

Learning Outside of the Classroom

CASNR acknowledges that applying classroom knowledge to real life settings is important to students. There are numerous classes that take teaching to the next level through faculty who have industry experience and those who use a hands-on approach to apply book knowledge to real-life situations.

CASNR Sponsored Events

Part of the college experience is meeting people and having fun. Throughout the year, CASNR helps students meet this goal through numerous activities such as Prairie Stomp, Snow Stomp and CASNR Week.

Study Abroad Opportunities

UNL and CASNR offer numerous study abroad opportunities. Students can choose to live abroad and study at universities there for one or two semesters or take shorter study tours abroad. These opportunities are truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences!

Ensuring Your Future Guarantee

If a student does well academically, gets involved on campus, and completes an internship, CASNR guarantees that the student will receive a job offer within six months of graduation.

Commitment to Students from the Top

CASNR’s Dean, Dr. Steven Waller, truly loves his job.  In fact, he’s been overheard asking, “Am I really getting paid to do this job?”  He is dedicated to creating the best learning environment possible for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of academics and involvement.
