I am a native Nebraskan from Hastings. Interestingly enough, I did not grow up with an Ag-related background. When I decided to come to UNL I knew that I wanted a more personalized education, which is why I started looking at CASNR.

As a Biochemistry major, I have always been interested in science and the idea of doing research, and extensive experience living and studying abroad in China two times before coming to UNL led to an interest in international business and relations. With a family background in entrepreneurship, the obvious choice for me was to join the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program. The Engler program has been monumental for me as I continue to learn more about how I can combine my interests in Science, Business, and Agriculture into an international career.

Studying abroad in China was a major milestone in my life, leading to many great memories, life lessons, and the ability to fluently speak another language. For me, it was a great learning experience and the perfect preparation for coming to UNL and being a part of the great community that is CASNR. Just as I highly recommend studying abroad while at UNL, I definitely suggest any students that wish to join CASNR to go for it. There is no better decision that I have ever made than joining this great group of people that care not only about agriculture, but also care deeply about the future of our world. Without a doubt, agriculture plays a vital and irreplaceable role in the life of local communities in Nebraska, throughout the U.S. and around the world. Joining great programs that CASNR has to offer, like the Justin Smith Morrill Scholars program, is one of the many great ways to understand the importance of Ag both at home and abroad and to become a more knowledgeable and conscientious global citizen.

I am very excited to continue my great education through CASNR at UNL and to see which career path I end up taking. The faculty in CASNR are world-class, and I couldn't ask to be a part of a better group of students and instructors to share in my educational experience here at UNL.
