Initially I wanted to rebel against what everyone else in my family did and go to another school but the Engler Entrepreneurship Program UNL’s agriculture program were also very attractive to me, as I saw the growth my siblings experienced. Then at the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute, I was able to explore the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communications program and everything about my future made sense. There, we were asked if anyone wanted to try standing at the green screen and give a weather report, so I did and that I day I chose UNL to be my college.

CASNR is a family to me. I can walk across campus and have people smile and acknowledge me by name. The faculty and staff know more than my name, but know my background, my passions, my family, and make me feel very welcomed. I’m treated as an individual instead of a number here. I love my major because I’m able to combine my love for photography, videography, people, and agriculture while having small class sizes. The projects I do connect me to farmers, researchers, and agricultural issues while doing what I love-creating and sharing.

When I’m not doing school or campus activities I can be found hanging out at my sorority, Chi Omega, going on walks with friends, drinking JuiceStop Smoothies, exercising in group fitness at the rec, eating Krispy Kreme donuts, or meeting new people. Painting and crafting is my go to when I need a mindless activity and I’ve also always enjoyed cutting and styling hair for my family or friends or doing some photography. When I’m back home, I like working with my dad, mom, or siblings in the field or with the cattle.
