In 2012, at range camp, I made the decision to come the UNL for the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship program. After finding out that our horticulture department is one of the best in the nation it confirmed my decision. The Horticulture major with the Entrepreneurship option is the perfect mixture of business and plants/flowers, two of my favorite things.

Personally, I think I have the most fun major on campus, but I am biased. The horticulture department provides me with hands-on experience, while developing me professionally. Rather than sitting in a classroom often you will find a class of horticulturalists learning outside or in a greenhouse. Another great advantage of being in the Agronomy-Horticulture departments is the great relationships you can build with professors, and fellow students. The professors are very personable, and most classes are small enough for you to know everyone by the end of the semester.

Opportunity is everywhere in college, and you have the choice to make college what you want it to be. I knew that I wanted to be involved in college and take opportunities that are available to me. There is no better time in your life to build a professional network than in college. Currently I am involved in Cru, Horticulture Club, Engler Entrepreneurship Experience, Pi Alpha Xi, and CASNR Coffee Club. Along with that, I work part-time and help teach floral design. Also, my floral business keeps me busy.
