Ag Career Profiles

The AgCareers Career Profiles are a resource promoting awareness and understanding of the diverse opportunities within agriculture and food. To browse the more than 300 Career Profiles, select a pathway of interest to you. Then, locate a job title you would like to read more about. Each Career Profile contains an overview, job responsibilities, required education, potential employers, job outlook, and professional organizations to join. Plus, there is a link to current career opportunities on AgCareers.com related to that career.

On-campus Jobs

On-campus and work study positions are wonderful ways to help you explore your interests. We highly encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities! All CASNR departments offer on-campus and work study positions.

Job Shadowing

Job Shadowing is a career development experience that allows individuals to learn more about a career path, industry, or organization by spending time both observing and interviewing an experienced professional on the job.  Visit our job shadowing resource to learn more about how to set yourself up with a great job shadowing experience.

Informational Interviews

Informational interviews are an excellent way to make new connections and create a more strategic network in your fields of interest.  These interviews involve talking with people currently working in a career field in which you are interested to gain a better understanding of an occupation, organization, or industry.  Ask for information, ideas, suggestions, and referrals to others with relevant information.  However, it is not appropriate to ask for a job during an informational interview.

Big Interview

Use Big Interview to learn and practice your interview skills. You will get hands-on practice with mock interviews tailored to your specific industry, job and experience level.  -

Create an account using your @huskers.unl.edu email address.  Utilize 4024 when prompted for the access code.

Digital Badges

CASNR provides digital badges to help you succeed in your career.

Federal and State Job Resources

Job opportunities with the U.S. government are available in many career fields. The application and hiring process differs from a traditional job search.  Visit our federal and state job resources page for links to a multitude of specialized resources to assist you with your government job search.

International Student Employment

International students are restricted as to where and how much they are allowed to work.  Please refer to the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) for information on Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT) and more.  Students in eligible STEM fields, may be eligible to apply for an OPT extension.  Students should work closely with ISSO before pursuing or accepting off-campus employment.
