Classroom Career Materials

A plethora of career resources are available for use by your students.  In addition, you can download and utilize career development images and videos for your classes. These materials contain important career advice, resources, and events.

Request a Presentation

Request a presentation for your class or student organization on topics such as preparing for career fairs, résumé writing, internships, job search skills, LinkedIn, networking, and more!  We can customize presentations to be anywhere from 10 - 60+ minutes in length.  Please request presentations as far in advance as possible to give us adequate time to prepare.

There are many employers who also enjoy speaking to classes.  If you would like help identifying employer contacts, please contact us and we will do our best to connect faculty with employers who can present on a topic being covered in your class.

Facilitating Internships

In support of the UNL N2025 Strategic Plan aim to “innovate student experiences that prepare graduates to be lifelong learners and contributors to the workforce in Nebraska and the world” and the NU system’s Five-Year Strategy to meet Nebraska’s talent development needs by providing “each student an experiential learning opportunity with a business, organization, or community”, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources offers these internship best practices and resources as a framework to guide departmental and program decision-making that supports learning.

Share a Job or Internship

If employers contact you with job or internship opportunities, keep in mind that there are ethical and legal issues to be considered regarding college student recruitment.  Refer to the NACE Faculty Guide to Ethical and Legal Standards in Hiring for details.  In order to reach the widest audience possible, please encourage employers to post their jobs and internships on Handshake.

International Student Employment

International students are restricted as to where and how much they are allowed to work.  Please refer to the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) for information on Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT) and more.  Students in eligible STEM fields, may be eligible to apply for an OPT extension.  Students should work closely with ISSO before pursuing or accepting off-campus employment.
