CASNR Students Making an Impact
Lauren Roles - Abbott Ambassador
Abbott and the Big Ten Conference partnered together for the We Give Blood challenge — a national campaign aimed at addressing critical blood shortages and encouraging young adults to become donors. UNL won the 2024 challenge
Lauren Roles is a junior microbiology major who is serving as a student ambassador for Abbott and the Big Ten’s “We Give Blood” drive. Her efforts to promote the blood drive has undoubtedly saved lives!
Elijah Riley - Big Gumdrop Outdoors
Big Gumdrop Outdoors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating underserved youth about nature. Through hands-on activities, they inspire the next generation to explore the outdoors and consider careers in natural resources.
Elijah Riley is a 2024 CASNR alum. While at UNL, he participated in the Engler Agribusiness Entreprenuership Program where he refined his goals with Big Gumdrop Outdoors to focus on youth outdoor programs such as fishing clinics, kayaking clinics and a community lake day.
Nebraska Equestrian Team - Boo at the U
The Nebraska Equestrian Team is a group of approximately fifty students who practice and compete together within Zone 8, Region 5 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Equestrian Team members develop sportsmanship, team spirit, and horsemanship.
Members of the Equestrian Team host an annual trick-or-treating opportunity for the community by decorating the barn and arena with Halloween decor and outfitting the horses with costumes! The event also includes a petting zoo with goats, sheep and other animals.
